    These leather mountain boots were made in the French Alps in the 1930s. They feature studded soles, originally designed to provide grip in mountainous terrain and suitable for early mountaineering use.

    Today, they make a striking decorative piece and would be a perfect addition to a rustic interior, cabin, lodge, or store display.

    After nearly a century, the boots are in worn condition. Over time, they have developed a rich patina that only adds to their character and charm. Due to their age and stiffness, I do not recommend wearing them; they are best suited for decorative purposes only. Please note that two lace hooks are missing on the top of the left boot.

    Antique 1915 WWI trench art shell

    This remarkable artillery shell casing dates back to the First World War and stands as a powerful symbol of its ultimate outcome. Like many soldiers who sought distraction from the monotony and horrors of trench life, this casing was most likely hand-engraved by a French soldier. The scene depicts a triumphant fighting rooster — the national emblem of France — standing victorious over a German helmet. An oak branch and the years 1914–1919 complete the symbolic composition.

    The artwork was created on an original British artillery shell casing, still clearly marked on the base with “DEC – 1915,” confirming its wartime origin.

    To cope with the relentless stress and boredom of trench warfare, soldiers often turned to creativity, transforming the remnants of battle into expressive works of art. Today known as trench art, these handmade objects were crafted from spent shell casings, bullets, and other military materials. With only rudimentary tools at their disposal, soldiers relied on ingenuity, giving each piece a raw, deeply human, and authentic character.
