    Antique huge early 1900’s carousel panel

    This huge panel once decorated the top rounding boards of a carousel that stood on fairs in the early 1900’s.
    It shows a charming, hand painted western scene with two native americans riding horses through the prairie.
    The scene was was painted on canvas stretched on a large white painted wooden frame.
    The back of the frame has been provided with hooks and eyes with which the panels were originally attached to each other, making it easy to mount the piece on a wall or on chains.
    Due to its size and the naive painteing technique that was used this panel is very characteristic and impressive!

    This unique and impressive panel would be the perfect decor piece to display inside a steak house, ranch or man cave!

    After more than a century the canvas and frame show a lovely distressed patina that only adds to the panel’s character! The panel shows signs of wear like tiny cracks in the paint surface. At the back the panel has been provided with a vertical plank to tension the canvas.
    The wooden frame has been coated with transparent lacquer to give the surface a protective layer and a glossy finish. The canvas has been cleaned from dust and filth and has been coated with varnish afterwards.

  • Antique 20’s Amputation Saw from Mental Hospital

    Antique 20’s amputation saw

    This saw was actually used to operate on patients in the psychiatric hospital of Brinkgreven in the Dutch city of Deventer, which has been operational since 1900. After years of use by the doctors at the facility, the piece ended up in the museum, which was established to commemorate the hospital’s history.

    The saw features one large removable blade and a smaller round blad that seems be able to rotate. All parts are marked with the number 7.

    The saw shows original markings of the manufacturer of “PEUGEOT”. It also shows the initials it’s original owner “J. Phol”.

    This is an unique oddity that would fit perfectly in a medical collection or cabinet of curiosities!

    Due to years and use the saw shows marks of use but remains in good condition.

    This caribou was shot in northern Sweden in the 1930’s.
    The antlers were mounted on a heart shaped wooden plaque shield.

    After almost a century the trophy remains in worn condition. At some point one of the antlers broke off and was mounted back on a gain with two nails to secure it.

    After almost a century the trophy shows some signs of wear. Due to the years the wooden shield shows a lovely worn patina like the tiny cracks in the varnish surface that only adds to the trophy’s character!
    One of the lower points must have broken off while the animal was still alive, as it appears to have recovered.
