Vintage 30’s WWII USAAF Type D-1 Sheepskin Flight Jacket and Cap

Vintage 1937′ USAAF issued type D-1 Cold Weather Sheepskin Jacket and matching flight cap

The D-1 jacket was issued by the USAAF to their mechanics and other ground personnel but was widely worn by pilots and other aircrews.
Because of the bitter cold winter conditions and freezing temperatures of unheated cockpits at altitudes of up to 7 km (20.000 feet) these sheepskin jackets were heavy duty pieces of outerwear and designed to withstand these harsh conditions!

The jacket and cap were left behind by an USAAF pilot after he was given shelter in a Dutch farmhouse during the war.
The pilot used to belong to one of crews of six B-17 bombers that crashed in the Alblasserwaard after being shot down by German anti-aircraft guns.

These pieces would make rare and great additions to any USAAF collection!

The tag under the collar reades: Type D-1, PT.NO. .., MFG.S.A.A.D., SMALL
As indicated by the markings MFG. SAAD, this jacket was manufactured by San Antonio Area Depot.

By attaching an extra layer to the bottom of the jacket it was custom made longer than a regular one.
During the job the original Talon zipper must have been replaced by the longer RIES zipper.

After all those years the jacket and cap both remain in used condition.
The sheepskin outer layer on both pieces shows a slight distressed patina due to use and time but no holes or rips!
The zipper on the jacket got oxidized and isn’t in working order.

shoulder width: 18.1″ (46 cm)
lenght back: 32.3″ (70 cm)

Vintage 50’s Leather A-2 Model Flight Jacket

Vintage 50’s A-2 model flight jacket

The famous A-2 model flight jacket originally was designed and issued by the US Army to Air Force pilots, navigators and bombardiers during WWII. After the war the A-2 became very populair, worn in many TV shows and movies by famous actors many manufactorers began to reproduce the jacket for casual use in the 50’s & 60’s.
It never came out of style and still remains an American style icon!

This jacket most probably has a military background.
This leather jacket has a polyester fabric inner lining and a Talon zipper, which indicates it was made in the US.

The jacket is in a used-condition, it faded nicely due years of wearing, giving it
a rugged vintage-look! the leather shows a distressed patina which only adds
to the jacket’s character by giving it a rough touch.
The leather has been cleaned with leather soap and treated with grease.

Sleeves: 22,8″ (58 cm)

This western style jacket was made in Mexico.
The suede combined with its sherpa lining makes it very warm and comfortable to wear!

After 50 years the jacket still remain in good condition and appears not to be worn much!

Vintage 50’s genuine cowichan cardigan

This awesome piece was hand-knit in the USA and shows a lovely hunting scene with hunter, dogs and pheasant!
It is comfortable and warm to wear, ideal for the coming winter days! It’s also unique and very stylish!
It would go great with some jeans and old western boots!

Initially I bought it for myself but it turned out be to big for me.. still makes me sad.

After 70 years the cardigan shows some wear due to use and time but still remains in pretty good condition!

Vintage 1942′ WWII Swiss Army Cowhide Tornister

Vintage 1942′ WWII era Swiss army issued cowhide mountaineers rucksack,
also know as Haaraffe tornister.

These very rucksacks were introduced to the Swiss Army in 1898 and
remained unchanged until 1950 because of their decent design.

The rucksack has an outside covering made of cowhide, this is from where
the bag got it’s German nickname ‘haaraffe tornister’, which means ape backpack.
The inside of the backpack is lined with canvas type of military fabric.

The rucksack is a good, vintage condition. It shows some signs of wear as it
stood the test of being used for years.
The leather parts and straps got more flexible, but are still strong.

Vintage 40’s WII Era military Original Bezard Compass

The Bezard-Kompass was a highly successful Austrian-made compass model from the first-half of the 20-th Century.
The compass was adopted by the Austrian Imperial Army.
It can also be seen in the hands of the Austro-Hungarian explorer, Count Laszlo Ede Almasy in photographs dating to the early 1930s.
Almasy had explored the Libyan Sahara where he discovered the famous cave paintings.

This rare piece is collectible, decorative and usable! Cool to take with you on a hiking trip or to display as small decor!

It’s in a used vintage-condition.
Due to years of use the compass shows a distressed patina.
The dark green paint that covers the metal case shows wear.
The compass still is in a function condition and points north easily!
