Antique 19th century French mini portrait
This pencil & watercolor mini painting dates back to the late 1800’s and shows a genteman with a grey beard wearing a classic suit and a monocle.
Underneath the portrait is signed in French with the words ‘a gift on the occasion of our friendship – 1887’. Sadly the autograph of the artist isn’t readable anymore.
The man’s stately appearance and stern look combined with the earthy tones give this painting it’s characteristic charm.
It would fit perfectly decorating your gentleman’s room, shop or barber shop!
After more than a century the portrait acquired a lovely patina that shows signs of wear and time.

Antique early 19th century whaling harpoon
No, this is no orc spear or some other movie prop but you might consider this an as cruel device.
This crude tool actually is a real whaling harpoon, used in the early 1800’s!
Although I hope we all agree that hunting these majestic creatures is a horrible occasion, the whaling industry has been very important to the European history and economy. Back then the oil that was obtained from whales was used to produce many everyday products such as lamp oil, candles, and soap and therefor was essential. Sadly overhunting the arctic seas for centuries has been devastating to the populations of many whale species. Because of its dark past, mixed vibes remain attached to this rare relic though I still consider it a true piece of history that comes with loads of adventurous tales!
It was hand-wrought and forged in iron with a cone to attach a wooden handle.
This relic would be an unique piece to add to your whaling collection or cabinet of curiosities!
After almost two centuries the harpoon remains in worn condition and shows an oxidised patina.
After sanding off the coarse rust the iron tool has been treated with antique wax to give the surface a protective layer and a subtle glossy finish.

After being under the ground for more than a century the iron oxidiced and shows a lovely patina that only adds to their crude charm.
These decorative pieces would be perfect to display into your cabinet of curiosities but they would also make unique handles for your cabinet or drawers!
All five handles have been cleaned and treated with antique wax to give the surface a protective layer and a subtle glossy finish. They all still hinge properly.

This antique pistol was found in an old barn on the Italian island of Sicily and appears to have a special connection to the local history! Made sometime in the 19th century, this weapon should originally have had two much longer barrels and a stock as this once was a double barrel percussion rifle. With its stock and barrels sawed off combined with some other makeshift adjustments, the rifle was converted into a pistol making it useless for hunting, but suddenly a much more efficient weapon for short ranges in an urban environment!
Nicknamed ‘the Lupara’, literally meaning ‘for the wolf’ and referring to it’s original hunting use, makeshift pistols and shotguns like this one were often used by gang members of the Sicilian Mafia!
Considering its background, this weapon was most likely used for criminal, Mafia related practices and might even have taken lives.
Because of its dark past, mixed vibes remain attached to this rare relic though I still consider it a true piece of history that would be the ultimate collectors item to the real Godfather fan!
After more than a century the pistol remains in worn condition and shows a patina obtained due to use and time. It’s not in functional order, it can’t be used to fire anymore.
