These antique binoculars were manufactured in the German city of Jena by Carl Zeiss — a renowned company celebrated for its exceptional lenses and pioneering optical systems. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, these early Zeiss binoculars embody a level of craftsmanship that is rare in today’s mass-produced optics and were built to last a lifetime.

Because of their distinctive curved design, they were affectionately nicknamed “Bent Shoulders”, a shape introduced by Carl Zeiss in 1907.

This particular pair still carries its original serial number: 4019, dating the piece to approximately 1907–1908, making it one of the earliest known examples of this model. Beneath the Carl Zeiss Jena logo, the binoculars are marked D.R.P., which stands for Deutsches Reichspatent — indicating the patented design under the German Empire.
