Antique Early 1900’s American Wardrobe Trunk
€495.00
Early 1900’s wardrobe steamer trunk
This trunk was manufactured in the early 1900s by Dread Naught Virginia Trunk & Co in Petersburg, USA.
Its sturdy, compact design unfolds to reveal extendable clothing rails with hangers and a bottom compartment on one side, while the other side features built-in drawers. This design made it ideal for storing clothing and other belongings while traveling. Trunks like these were commonly used by passengers on ships, carriages, and trains throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The trunk still bears multiple destination stickers, including one from the Holland-America Line featuring a large sailing ship. Additionally, the original owner’s initials are painted on one side.
While this piece is still functional for travel, it also makes a unique furniture statement—perfect for storing your wardrobe or even repurposing as a nightstand!
After nearly a century of journeys across the world, the trunk shows signs of use and wear. However, its beautifully aged patina only adds to its charm. To preserve and enhance its character, the surface has been treated with antique wax, providing a protective layer and a subtle glossy finish.
