Antique early 1900’s Goberg viking ship ashtray
This exceptional forged iron sculpture was crafted by renowned German metalworker Hugo Berger, a master artisan who founded his first metal workshop in 1895. His intricate decorative ironwork gained worldwide recognition, making his pieces highly sought after.
Designed in the shape of a Viking drakkar ship, this ashtray features a built-in matchbox and cigarette holder. It rests on a custom-made wrought iron stand, enhancing its striking presence.
A true statement piece, this unique ashtray would make a captivating addition to any interior, collection, or display of fine craftsmanship.
Even after more than a century, the ashtray remains in excellent condition. Time and use have bestowed upon it a rich, oxidized patina that only enhances its character and historical charm. Sadly one of the small round shields is missing on the right side of the ship.
To preserve its surface, the piece has been carefully cleaned and treated with antique wax, providing a subtle protective layer and a refined, glossy finish.
