Vintage 1941 WWII era Swiss army issued messenger bag

This rugged leather messenger bag was originally issued to Swiss soldiers during World War II and was designed to serve as part of a pair of saddle bags carried on horseback. The two bags would have been connected by a chain, slung over either side of the saddle. Later on, this particular bag was converted into a shoulder bag with the addition of a matching brown leather strap, securely fastened with four rivets on each side.
