Vintage 40’s WWII Wooden Plane Propeller
Vintage 40’s WWII era wooden propeller blade from a German military airplane
This unique piece has been salvaged from a military airplane during the Second World War.
The base of the propeller blade – which has once been attached to a cilinder with two others – is marked with DVM: Duitse Verenigde Metaalfabrieken, which indicates it was made in the Netherlands during the German occupation. Sadly the type of aircraft it was attached top is unknown to me.
On to its base a piece is welded that makes it possible to hang the propeller on the wall or mount in on a stand.
The piece would be an unique addition to any WWII or aviation collection!
After 80 years the propeller blade remains in worn condition and shows signs of wear.
Over time it acquired a nice patina which only adds more charm to it.
It is treated with antique wax to give the surface a subtle glossy finish.
Measurements:
length propeller: 39.6″ (100,5 cm)
Width propeller: 7.1″ (18 cm)
