Antique early 1900’s Black Forest folk art bear ashtray

This antique ashtray, featuring a basket carrying and pipe smoking bear figure, was traditionally hand carved out of hard wood in the Black forest area in the Swiss city of Interlagen. It’s a fine example of the great craftsmanship the area got famous for and shows beautiful details and features small glass eyes. It was originally made as an ashtray with the basket of the bear as a match holder but could also be used as a trinket dish and pen holder!

This ashtray would be the perfect addition to decorate your desk, or shelf in your cabin with!

After more than a century the wooden carving shows minor signs of wear.
In my eyes the patina it acquired due to time only adds to it’s charm!
