Antique Early 1900’s wrought iron Climbing Spikes
Two pairs of antique early 1900’s wrought iron climbing spikes
Spikes like these were used by lumberjacks and lineman for climbing trees and telephone poles.
Fitted with these spikes, which were fastened around the wearer’s lower leg with leather straps, he could climb a tree or pole by kicking the pointed end into the trunk with each step up.
These spikes would fit perfectly decorating your cabin, lodge or ranch home!
After more than a century both pairs remain in used condition.
The wrought iron that got oxidiced over the years has been treated with a layer of antique wax to prevent the rust from corroding any further.
The leather straps show tiny cracks and tears due to drying out over all those years. In order to moisturice them and prevending them to dry out even further they have been treated with leather greece.
