Vintage 1944′ WWII US Army Snowshoes
Vintage 1944′ traditional wooden snowshoes
These ‘bear paw’ snowshoes were handmade by Snocraft Inc. Norway – Maine.
They were issued by the US army during the second world war to the 10th Mountain Division who fought in the Italian alps in 1944!
Their design was inspired by the craftmanship of native americans and feature traditional rawhide latticeworks stretched around wooden frames.
These iconic snowshoes would be the perfect decor pieces for above the fire place, or on the wall of your cabin, lodge or man cave!
After more than 70 years they remain in worn condition and show signs of use and wear. They have been generally cleaned and treated with antique wax to give the surface a protective layer and a subtle glossy finish. All leather parts have been treated with grease.
