Vintage 1950s Traditional Wooden Snowshoes

These classic “bear paw” snowshoes were handcrafted in the 1950s by Swenson & Swenson in the United States. Their design was inspired by traditional Native American craftsmanship, featuring finely woven latticework stretched over sturdy bentwood frames.

A true icon of winter travel, these snowshoes are not only a testament to time-honored techniques but also a striking decorative piece. They would look amazing displayed above a fireplace, on the wall of a cabin or hunting lodge, or as part of a rustic interior or man cave setup.

After more than 70 years, they show signs of wear consistent with age and use, which only adds to their authentic, rugged charm. The wooden frames have been gently cleaned and treated with antique wax to protect the surface and enhance the natural grain with a subtle glossy finish. All leather parts have been nourished with grease to preserve their flexibility and texture.
