Vintage 60’s Mounted Velvet Caribou Antlers
Vintage 60’s mounted velvet caribou antlers – “Rangifer tarandus”
This caribou was shot in northern Sweden in the 1960’s while it’s antlers were still covered with velvet.
This layer of hairy skin coveres the antlers during a specifik growth stage of the antlers of all deer species.
The antlers were mounted on a custom made wooden plaque shield.
This impressive trophy mount would be the perfect decor piece for above the fire place or on the wall of your cabin, lodge or man cave!
After almost 60 years the velvet skin layer shows some bald spots as it lost some hairs.
