Antique early 1900’s wooden sculpture of a hunter man

This unique figure was sculptured in the South of Franse in the early 20th century.
It was skillfully hand carved out of one single piece of solid wood and is a perfect example of old school craftmanship as it features some unique characteristics and details!
Considering the size of the sculpture it must have been carved out of quite a large tree trunk.

Dressed in traditional clothing including a long black cloak and feathered hat combined with his black beard and the hunting horn attached to its belt this hunter man looks to be from a fairy tale!
It was also hand painted in lovely earthy tones and features glass eyes.

It would be an unique decor piece to greet peolpe at the entrance of a bar, man cave or cabin!

After a century the sculpture remains in worn condition and shows a lovely distressed patina that only adds to its character by giving it a rough touch!
Sadly his left hand is missing but can be replaced. It might be cool to make him hold a flag or banner with a logo or text!
The figure has been coated with transparent lacquer to give the surface a protective layer and a glossy finish.
