Vintage 40’s USAAF ANJ-4 flight jacket
This heavy duty flight jacket was first introduced in 1943 by the US Air Force and issued to their flight crews during the war. It was the last sheepskin flying jacket they would make, replacing the iconic B3 jacket.
It features a timeless, rugged design with double front pockets, extra patched sleeves and large sheepskin collar and lining to withstand the freezing tempratures of high altitudes!
Although due to its current condition it might not be wearable anymore it would still make an awesome decor piece or collectable for any WWII or USAAF enthousiast!
After 80 years and surviving the harsh conditions of the war this jacket remains in a distressed condition.
The outer sheep leather shows mutiple rips and a distressed patina it acquired due to wear and time.
Except of minimal treatment I decided to leave the jacket in its original condition and leave it up to the next owner to either keep it that way or fully restore it. After some love it might be wearable again!
